Our consultants bring decades of teaching and practicing continuous improvement across a variety of industries and processes. They combine their experience and know-how to show clients how to apply the lean and six sigma methods to achieve sustainable results. We also leverage our extensive our online learning library to insure clients become self-sufficient.
What is it like to work with consultants?
The term “consultant” is very general and what they do is very different by specific industry or field of expertise. A customer’s experience of working with a consultant can be mixed, unless both sides start out with very clear expectations of each other. We begin by listening and answering our customers’ concerns and questions, such as these.
Q: How does it work if we are a small company, or have a limited or no budget for consulting?
A: We offer a range of services designed to help solve customer problems at most budgets. At the low-cost range, customers work with our consultants to develop a plan, begin self-paced learning and practice via the methods in our online library, and we keep you on track through periodic visits or coaching calls. At a full-service level, our consultants become a dedicated member of a client’s team, delivering customized support days or weeks per month. We start small and prove our worth step by step.
Q: Is there a standard approach or roadmap for continuous improvement?
A: Every client’s situation is unique and different. We listen, observe, learn and adapt our approach to fit each client’s short and long-term goals. Through over 20 years of practice, we have developed standard training programs, workshops, and even a general “getting started” 90-day roadmap. We build customized playbooks for clients based on proven and repeatable modules and methods.
Q: Will we become dependent on consultants?
A: No. We support clients committed to both to delivering results and developing people. We accelerate your learning and progress towards your goals, build in-house learning systems by leveraging our online library, and remain available to you long-term for informal or structured coaching support.
Q: What type of work is within scope of continuous improvement consulting?
A: As a visit to our online library reveals, continuous improvement applies to any process in any industry. Typical projects are aimed at streamlining workflow, reducing throughput and cycle times, improving safety and quality, and thereby reducing cost. We do this by thoroughly grasping the situation, identifying factors driving the problem, and selecting the methods known to help address the causes.
Q: We’ve never used consultants. How do we know consultants are reliable?
A: Each of our consultants has built their reputations over decades of results in service to clients. Collectively, we abide by our Consulting Code of Ethics in order to exceed customer expectations of professionalism, integrity and fiscal responsibility.
